Landscaping by Arbor & Stone

Arbor & Stone’s landscaping team designs and builds outdoor spaces for homes across Hampton, Twickenham, Teddington and the surrounding area. Whether you want a new patio, fresh turf, decorative planting or a complete garden makeover, we deliver high-quality work tailored to how you want to use your garden.

Because we are tree surgeons as well as landscapers, we can clear overgrown trees and stumps, then build the new garden – one team, one quote, from start to finish.

Large porcelain patio laid at the back of a house

Patios and paving

We lay porcelain, natural stone and block paving patios and paths on a properly prepared sub-base, with the right falls so rainwater drains away from your house. Porcelain is especially popular: it is hard-wearing, low-maintenance and resists staining and moss.

Lawns, turf and artificial grass

From a complete re-turf to a brand-new lawn on a cleared site, we prepare the ground properly – levelling, adding topsoil where needed – so the lawn establishes well. For low-maintenance gardens, we install artificial grass on a compacted, free-draining base with neat edging.

Fencing, garden clearance and planting

  • Close-board and panel fencing, gates and boundary repairs
  • Garden clearance and site preparation, including tree and stump removal
  • New planting beds, borders and edging
  • Paths, steps and edging to tie the garden together

How a landscaping project works

  • Visit and ideas – we visit, listen to what you want and suggest layouts and materials
  • Clear quote – a detailed written quote and an agreed start date
  • Clearance and groundworks – removing old surfaces, trees and stumps, and preparing the ground
  • Build – patios, paths, lawns, fencing and planting
  • Finish – a full tidy-up so the garden is ready to enjoy

Landscaping – frequently asked questions

Do you help with garden design?

Yes. We help you plan the layout, choose materials and make the most of the space, then build it.

How long does it take to lay a patio?

It depends on the size, the ground and the material. Most garden patios take from a few days to a couple of weeks, including groundworks. We give you a timescale with your quote.

Porcelain or natural stone – which is better?

Porcelain is very hard-wearing, stain-resistant and easy to keep clean. Natural stone such as sandstone has a softer, traditional look but needs more maintenance. We can show you samples of both.

Do I need planning permission for a patio?

Usually not for a back garden. In a front garden, paving over more than five square metres with an impermeable surface that drains onto the road needs planning permission – a permeable surface, or one that drains to a lawn or border, does not.

Can you remove trees and stumps before landscaping?

Yes. As tree surgeons we can clear trees, hedges and stumps first, then build the new garden as one project.
